Having read some quite negative reviews on this hotel I was a bit apprehensive on going to it.
However I was very happy with my stay there.
On the positive side my wife and I found the bedroom, bathroom and breakfast room to be be very clean, though we did notice that the carpets were grubby and could do with being replaced.
The location was excellent, being 2/3 minutes from the main train station and also close to excellent shops.
On the negative side, the bedroom though it had a large, high cupboard with many shelves had no space for hanging garments. On would have thought that some of the shelves could be removed in order to provide for this facility. Note that there were hooks on the wall for hanging but this is surely inadequate for a number of shirts and jackets.
Considering how expensive Switzerland is I would consider the Cristal to be good value.
Top Tip
If you are travelling to sightsee in Switzerland I would say that Geneva (though a beautiful city itself) is not the best location at which to be based as it is on the western border.
We used the Swiss Pass rail tickets and so had to come back to Geneva each evening.
I would suggest that Lausanne or Bern would be better bases from which to operate.

1. Very small room, fine for a single night but would not be so good for a stay of several days.
2. Rather bureaucratic attitude to providing access to wireless network.
Top Tip
1. Make sure they give you a free public transport ticket for the trams, buses and trains, which are excellent.
2. Restaurants in the station area are mostly a bit basic, so do a recce first, or else go to the old city, or else there are one or two more interesting places a bit further up Rue de Lausanne.

The hotel was well located- close to the shops, station and lake.
We went with 2 kids and it was a little awkward in the lifts (bit small). The room was clean and fitted our needs really well.

Geneva is really safe, alot of museums and sights to see. Bit expensive.
We took a train to Montreaux and then another train into the mountains- well worth the effort. Lots to do and see . people are friendly and accomodating

I did not find anything outstanding about the hotel. It provides the usual services that any other hotel will. That is what i axpected.
It definitly served my purpose.
Just one note, the breakfast was a bit on the poor side. But that's me. Thanks

The Lake of Geneva, and a number of restaurants very near by. Not far from shops.
